Carrie is entering her seventh season as a teacher for the ALT Academy. She graduated in 1995 from The University of Texas at Arlington with a BFA in Theatre Arts Performance. Shortly thereafter, Carrie received her lifetime teaching certificate from the state of Texas,
and went to work teaching Theatre Arts and Speech at Nimitz High School in Irving, Texas. After getting married and moving to Amarillo in 1998, she held the position of Theatre Arts teacher at Randall High School from 1999-2002. She took a little time off from teaching to be with her small children, but teaching is something that she absolutely loves to do, so she applied for and was awarded the job of teaching Theatre Three and Four for the ALT Academy in 2003. From 2006-2008, Carrie also taught Playwriting for the Academy, producing four original scripts written by the students of the class. In addition to her teaching schedule, Carrie is also fond of performing in some of ALT’s Mainstage productions. You may remember her from such favorites as Shelby in Steel Magnolias and Dinah in The Dixie Swim Club, or her ALTA award winning roles as Bell in The Fantasticks, and Blanche in Brighton Beach Memoirs. She’s also served as director for the Academy’s production of Robin Hood, assistant to the director for the Adventure Space’s Lonesome West, costumer for Blithe Spirit, properties Mistress for Oklahoma, or any other job they’ll let her have. Carrie is looking forward to another great year at the theatre this season!
