Allen
Allen is in his 27th year at ALT during
this 20010-11 season. During
that time he has directed more than 200 productions coupled with
appearances on stage in several other productions. As Managing Director, he has guided a steady growth in attendance, season ticket sales, volunteer participation, and staff size while bringing about an ALT budget growth to the million-dollar range. Allen was instrumental in the development and subsquent growth of the ALT Academy program, guided the addition of the Michael and Cindy Terk Lobby at the Mainstage site and brought the Adventure Theatre into existence. His recent projects included the renovation of the Mainstage performance area which included an upgrade of sound and lighting systems, rigging and drapes and new theatre seats. It is safe to say that ALT and its facilities are among the finest and ALT currently ranks as one of the largest and most successful community theatres in the country.
Before assuming his position at ALT, Allen earned a BA in Theatre from West Texas State University and acted professionally with the
prestigious Actor's Theatre of Louisville and TEXAS outdoor drama. He has served on the Board of Texas Nonprofit Theatres, just completed
service as a theatre panelist for the Texas Commission on the Arts and has been inducted into the Branding Iron Theatre Hall of Fame at WTAMU.
Allen and his wife Carrie have two daughters: Jordan, who is pursuing
a career in Dallas, and Alexa who is "livin' the life" in San Francisco.
